IBM will not use Windows Vista
“Andreas Pleschek also told that IBM has cancelled their contract with Microsoft as of October this year. That means that IBM will not use Windows Vista for their desktops. Beginning from July, IBM employees will begin using IBM Workplace on their new, Red Hat-based platform. Not all at once – some will keep using their present Windows versions for a while. But none will upgrade to Vista.”
So, as we sit here waiting in the calm before the Windows Vista storm, the first shots have already been fired.
Considering it was IBM who handed Microsoft their monopoly position in the first place, it seems fitting that it falls to them to announce the begining of the end for the Wintel platform.
Which side are you on?
Freedom or Oppression?
GNU/Linux and the FOSS movement represent a completely new direction for humanity. They both require a certain degree of learning and very little (or no) money to become useful to everybody. GNU/Linux has now reached a point where even ‘normal’ people can begin to make the switch in the name of planetary unity. This is not something you buy – this is something you learn.
Apple once represented the ‘Rebel Alliance’, but no more. Every Microsoft Windows or Apple Product you buy puts money in the hands of the American Government, which is ironic considering how many anti-war and anti-american articles get written by trendy journalists on their trendy imacs and ibooks.
Sticking with your MS Windows PC is to take on the role of the puny kid in the playground, who hangs around with the school bully for protection. I don’t care if you fear change, or if you like the familiarity of the desktop. The writing is on the wall.
You can and must understand Linux, NOW!!
